Vijayadasami – The Right Time to Enroll Your Child At a Preschool July 30, 2019
Vijayadasami falls on the tenth day of Navaratri and is celebrated as the day of victory of Good over Evil after performing nine days of worship. The first three days of celebration and worship are for Goddess Durga, the second three days for Goddess Lakshmi and the last three days for Goddess Saraswathi. Vijayadashami is celebrated mainly in Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. On this auspicious day, children start learning music, dances, languages, academic studies etc.
Young children start the journey of their education on this auspicious day. Not only children, but any individual of any age can also start learning various kinds of art and craft forms on Vijayadashami day. As the day is dedicated to Goddess Saraswathi, who is the source of all knowledge, it is believed that any form of learning started on that day will be fruitful. People keep their books, musical instruments and working tools in temples or in front of Goddes Saraswathi’s picture at home and perform pooja three times daily on eighth and ninth day. The tenth day of Navaratri- Dasara, is celebrated with the significance of Rama’s victory over Ravana. Thus the tenth-day celebration symbolically represents the reign of good over evil. All the tools, books, and other things kept for pooja will be taken on the tenth day and reused and the guru will be given Gurudakshina comprising betel leaf, money and new clothes.
Let’s see the meaning of Vidyarambham. “Vidya” means “knowledge” and” arambham” means “to start”. Many schools and houses carry out the rituals of Vidyarambham on the auspicious day of Vijayadashami. Also, thousands of people perform the rituals of their child’s vidyarambham in temples.
It is quite confusing for all the parents of toddlers about when to start the preschool education. Have you checked the Vijayadashami admission procedures this year? Being an awesome day for new beginnings, it is the ideal time to start your toddler’s education at preschool in Kochi. You might be wondering why this day is so special.
Benefits of starting learning on Vijayadashami:
1. Commitment and Readiness

On the day of Vijayadashami, both the parent and child perform rituals to initiate the learning and it gives them a good commitment into that task. Any ritual performance requires proper planning and involvement. If these three factors come together, success is assured. When starting your child’s education on Vidyarambham, you and your child will be committed, involved and planned.
2. A Good Start

A good preschool program that starts during Vijayadashami (probably in the month of October every year) will be an encouragement to your kids to build readiness and self-esteem to formal education.
3. Make First-Friendships

Those children who are enrolled in preschools create a lovely group of friends. Even the parents enjoy the journey of education together in special friendships. It is been said that first friendships last forever. Vijayadashami is one of the best time to start your kid’s education and make them a well groomed person. Vijayadashami and Spiritual Significance
As mentioned above, the first three days of Navarathri is dedicated to Goddess Durga, who fills one’s heart and body with pure deeds, next three days to Goddess Lakshmi, who is the source of ultimate wealth. She provides a pure mind too. The pure mind is quite important to attain knowledge which will be showered by Goddess Saraswathi-the Goddess of knowledge. The last three days are dedicated to Goddess Saraswathi. The day of victory of consciousness over the connection of an individual’s identity with the body and mind forms Vijayadashami. A true devotee of the goddess who follows and performs rituals on all days of Navarathri will attain blissful life and unalloyed joy. The worship is done during the night which signifies the darkness of ignorance of one’s consciousness. When one understands spiritual significance clearly, Dasara and Vijayadashami helps to attain self-knowledge.
Let our children acquire self-knowledge by learning their first lessons during Vijayadashami.
Come in, let us enjoy your child’s education together!!
