Independence Day is celebrated on August 15th every year to commemorate India’s freedom from British rule in 1947. Every year, the Prime Minister of India hoists the national flag at Delhi’s Red Fort and makes an address to the nation, which is followed by a military parade. The President of India also delivers the ‘address to the nation speech. This day is observed as a national holiday across India. Independence Day is observed with flag-hoisting ceremonies, parades, and cultural events in all Indian states and Union Territories. SKIPS centres celebrated Independence Day with great excitement and pride. The Samites listened in awe to the story of the freedom struggle. The Samites were proud to be dressed as freedom fighters. They enjoyed making tricolor badges during the activity session. It was a memorable day for all our Samites.
