Republic Day is celebrated in India every year on 26th January. It is a national holiday commemorating the adoption of the Constitution of India, and the country's transition to a republic which came into effect on 26th January 1950. The Constitution of India came into force on 26th January 1950.The main event for Republic Day celebration is a massive parade held in the capital of New Delhi, which includes cultural, historical, and military displays. The parade is preceded by the prime minister laying a wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti — an arched war memorial — and taking a moment of silence to commemorate fallen soldiers. The SKIPS centers celebrated Republic Day with great vigor and enthusiasm. The importance of the day and the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters to gain independence for our country was discussed by the teachers. A role play depicting the national symbols of india was done by the teachers to familiarize the Samites with the national symbols of India. Several cutural programs and craft activities were also organized for Samites. The celebration helped to educate the Samites about the freedom struggle of our country and also to invoke in Samites a sense of pride and belonging to the great country India.
