KERALA PIRAVI CELEBRATION Kerala Day or Kerala Piravi is celebrated to commemorate the birth of Kerala as an independent State in the Republic of India on November 1, 1956. Kerala Day or Kerala Piravi is celebrated every year in Kerala on November 1st.The term Kerala Piravi is derived from the Malayalam word 'piravi' which means birth and it implies the birth of Kerala. This day celebrates the unification of Malayalam-speaking areas into a single state.Prior to this unification, Kerala was divided into three independent provinces of Malabar, Cochin, and Travancore. Kerala Day is a day of pride and festivity for the people of Kerala. It represents the solidarity of the Malayalam-speaking people and their extraordinary social and linguistic character. It is a memorable event to remember the efforts and sacrifices of pioneers and activists who supported the state’s formation. All SKIPS Centers celebrated Kerala Piravi with great enthusiasm. All Samites and staff came dressed in traditional Kerala attires which added to the festive mood. Various cultural events like traditional dances and songs were performed by our Samites. The celebration helped Samites to get an awareness about the rich culture and heritage of the state of Kerala.
