In India,2nd October is celebrated every year as Gandhi Jayanti to commemorate the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, a prominent leader of the Indian independence movement against British colonial rule and a staunch advocate for non-violent civil disobedience.The United Nations observes this day as the International Day of Non-violence.Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born in Porbandar, a town in Gujarat in western India on 2 October 1869. The day is significant for honoring Gandhi's life and principles, promoting his ideals of non-violence and civil disobedience, and advocating for peaceful resistance. Various activities were organized in all SKIPS Centers to celebrate Gandhi Jayanthi. The Samites were dressed in white attires and some of them came dressed as Mahatmaji. An awareness talk about the life of Gandhiji and the non violence movement was given by the teachers. A cleaning campaign was organized in all centers as part of the activities. The importance of leading a simple life and adopting the policies of non violence was discussed with the children.
