On 15th August 1947,India was declared independent from British colonialism and the reins of control were handed over to the leaders of the Country. This day reminds us of all the sacrifices that were made by our freedom fighters in order to set India free from British rule. August 15th is a national holiday and the day is celebrated with flag hoisting, parades and cultural events.The national anthem is sung on this day, flag-hoisting ceremonies and drills are also conducted throughout the country in different institutions, homes and societies. Indians make an effort to dress in the tri-colour to celebrate their nation and culture.The Prime Minister of our country hoists our flag at the Red Fort in Old Delhi. A parade with members of the army and police also takes place. A speech to the nation is delivered by the PM where he speaks about the country's accomplishments in all these years. He even speaks about the goals for the future. All the SKIPS Centers celebrated Independence Day on 15th August 2023.The program began with the flag hoisting followed by various cultural events by the children. The teachers spoke to the children about the struggle and sacrifices of our freedom fighters to make India a free country. All our Samites and teachers were dressed in tricolour attires which added to the patriotic spirit. Samites also did a parade dressed in attires from different states. The cutural events made the day very memorable for our Samites.
